Russia Delivers Humanitarian Aid to Iran via Azerbaijan

(MENAFN) Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry announced Thursday that it has sent 13 tons of humanitarian aid to Iran through Azerbaijan.

The shipment, consisting of medicines, was transported to Azerbaijan for onward delivery to Iranian authorities. “The ministry’s aviation organized the delivery of medicines to the Republic of Azerbaijan for subsequent transfer to authorized representatives of the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the ministry said. The operation was carried out under orders from President Vladimir Putin.

The aid comes amid heightened tensions in the region following the US and Israeli large-scale attacks on Iran on February 28, which reportedly killed more than 1,300 people, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In response, Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
